Campaign Tracker ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service at campaigntracker.ai. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please discontinue use of the service.

This policy is designed to comply with applicable privacy regulations including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Email address - collected at registration and used for account management and alerts
• Payment information - billing is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers. Stripe handles all payment data under their own security standards (PCI-DSS compliant).
• Account preferences - watchlist selections, alert settings, and other in-app configuration you set

Information collected automatically

• Usage analytics - pages visited, features used, session duration, and similar interaction data to help us improve the product
• Device and browser information - browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and analytics purposes
• Log data - server logs including timestamps and error reports

FEC data (public record)

The campaign finance data displayed on our platform is sourced from the Federal Election Commission and is public record under federal law. We do not collect this data from users - we retrieve and display it from FEC public databases.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Send email alerts for FEC filings from committees on your watchlist - alerts you explicitly opted into
• Process subscription payments via Stripe
• Improve the product through usage analytics and feedback
• Send transactional emails (receipts, account confirmations, password resets)
• Send optional marketing emails about new features or updates - you can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles or share it with advertising networks.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We share limited information with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the service. These providers are contractually obligated to use your data only as directed by us and in compliance with applicable privacy law.

• Stripe - payment processing. Stripe receives your payment details and billing address to process subscription payments. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
• SendGrid - email delivery. We use SendGrid to send transactional and alert emails. SendGrid receives your email address and the content of emails sent on your behalf.

We do not sell your personal data to data brokers, advertising networks, or any other third party for commercial gain.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use a limited set of cookies necessary for the service to function:

• Session cookies - used to keep you logged in during a browsing session. These are deleted when you close your browser.
• Authentication tokens - stored in your browser to maintain your logged-in state across sessions.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or behavioral ad targeting technologies. We do not participate in cross-site tracking.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access - request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction - request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion - request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
• Opt-out of marketing emails - click the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or update your notification preferences in account settings
• Data portability - request your data in a structured, machine-readable format (GDPR users)
• Withdraw consent - where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you close your account:

• Your account data (email, preferences, watchlist) is deleted within 30 days of account closure
• Billing records may be retained longer to comply with tax and financial record-keeping requirements
• Aggregated, anonymized analytics data (with no personally identifying information) may be retained indefinitely

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and access controls to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

The service is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
